Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
System Information
Operating system: Linux-4.15.0-162-generic-x86_64-with-glibc2.27 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1070/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 460.91.03
Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.1.0, branch: master, commit date: 2022-03-08 18:16, hash:

Worked: Unknown, possibly 3.0
Caused by

In my project I have a large landscape, with two volumes.
One for the fog, which is just a vertical gradient, and the other for clouds.
It looks like this:
However, since 3.1, I noticed my fog being broken.
Instead, it's now rendering these vertical lines:
I've tried all sorts of things, but I can't really work around this one.
It only appears when rendering on the GPU (a GTX1070 in my case, Linux)
As you can see, weird vertical lines show up.
I recreated the scenario in a separate scene, for easy reproduction :)
I hope this is reproducible on your end, I don't have extra machines to test it on.

I think I can confirm that it is a regression:
3.1.0 shows the vertical lines.
This time on Windows (again, CUDA with a GTX1070)

I can confirm this issue with CUDA and a similar, but different issue on OptiX with the setup below. I will investigate and try to find the culprit commit.
System Information
Operating system: Linux-5.16.0-3-amd64-x86_64-with-glibc2.33 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 510.54
Blender version: 3.2.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2022-03-11 20:57, hash:

CC @leesonw and @brecht
Thanks for confirming, I'm staying with 3.0 for the time being then.
