System Information
Operating system: macOS-12.3-arm64-arm-64bit 64 Bits
Graphics card: Apple M1 Pro Apple 4.1 Metal - 76.3
Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.1.0, branch: master, commit date: 2022-03-08 18:16, hash:
c77597cd0e
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)
Short description of error
While listening to Youtube (or Vimeo or Apple TV or any video app) and then I close Blender, in almost 100% of the cases, Blender makes a distinctive "pock" sound when closing.
I've tested this also on the MacBook Air M1, both with the latest Mac OS 12.3 + Blender 3.1.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
A distinctive noise should appear on any volume level (better at high volumes, like when watching a movie). Best heard if listening to Ambiental music video (like classic music, instead of dance/rap).
If MacBook has headphones (tested with many types) the noise is gone.
I thought my Macbook is broken (is brand new) but all my other apps don't make that noise (Adobe Creative suite, Shapr3D, other Apple apps.)
While listening to Music. app or Podcasts. app this bug does not appear. It appears only when there is video playback and Blender is shut down.

Using Safari I can reproduce the click noise, I try with chrome and there is no noise when closing blender.

I can confirm this also on the M1 pro 16 with the latest 3.2 build.
I cannot reproduce this on a MacBook Pro 16 with
M1 Max
. Neither with Safari nor Firefox. Also don"t think this is a particular bug with Blender?

Changed status from 'Needs Triage' to: 'Confirmed'
I can confirm using Safari. (With Chrome this doesn't happen).
It seems to be related to the Audio device set in the preferences.
Setting the device to
None
seems to solve.I tested it in other applications, even an audio and video editing one, but I couldn't replicate it in these cases.
So it seems to be something in Blender.

This still affects the latest 4.1 alpha builds.
