@Sebastian Parborg (zeddb) well then other question, how do one even do this? You can't pick plane from camera list, you can't use eyedropper to place it there, you can't type it there by hand (it won't be accepted)?

@Philipp Oeser (lichtwerk) as far as I can see there were some commits regarding this issue and it stopped crashing after that. Can't see them though, because of builbot last changes limit, so I think it's resolved.

Just look at the bug report, can't you see black cut off when scale goes up/down? Can't you see there's version given there, too? There's even .blend attached.
And if by floor you mean grid display, then no, it's not helping.
If they would blend to one mess they would cover the whole plane, not a part of it, which shrinks with the scale increasing further. It's clearly bugged. It comes to a certain value and then it cuts off generation - thus leaving everything out of it's bounds black.
It should work like voronoi - be continous. And there are enough ways of making numbers to seem continous to do this.

As you can see it's not based on UVs. It's object location.
Also, that would be a workaround, whereas we clearly have a bug here. Voronoi texture was correctly applied for a value of 200^70.

After deleting the plane and trying to set camera view - nothing happens.
However, when I shift-C - it starts working again, so I guess shift-C is a part of this bug.

@Brecht Van Lommel (brecht) so what's the point of 'noisy image' for now? We either can render denoised image, or without denoiser. If I render something for 9 hours and denoiser will throw me out a glitch I can't get the before-denoising image and do anything with that. All the time is wasted...

Yes, it works with disabled experimenal features.
Yes, I'm using denoising - after disabling blender stopped crashing. Turning on again - crashing.

After restarting blender it started to work. I feel so stupid now.
On 2.79.5 11.07 17:38 build I have this problem too. I want to use negative value for clumping to have hair meet at their ends, but can't use Curve because it's clamped at 0-1 values.

I'm also experiencing problems with children's size (quite extreme, for example hair length is 1cm and children are 50cm), and random rotation - but I guess that would be a separate bug report.
