Frederick Burbidge (Interference) added a comment to T57752: EEVEE and backlighting.

I thought the issues was fixed because the lighting seemed to be working at least in the some versions last week, but somehow the issue returned again in the version yesterday and in the one today. Attaching a screen cap. Not sure what made the fix on the versions last week.

Frederick Burbidge (Interference) added a comment to T65239: 'Display In front' aka X Ray is missing from Blender 2.8 LookDev (Material View), only available in solid view.

I've encountered this bug. To be specific, ticking "In Front" in the "Viewport Display" section of the Object tab only functions in solid view. In LookDev and Rendered mode in Eevee it has no effect.

I've re-tested this with the current build of 2.80 and it now doesn't happen if your texture color space is set to "Raw" or "Non-Color" but still happens if you set it to any other color space.

I didn't think one was necessary but here you go. The attached file is a scene with a single cube in it, a material assigned, and the "AlphaTest.tga" texture applied to it. "Use Alpha" is turned on. The "Color" output is plugged into the Base Color of a Principled BSDF. Without the alpha plugged in to anything, each side of the cube should just show a coloured gradient. You can see how the texture should look in the image editor. The text "This is A Test" should not be visible. However it IS visible, because the alpha channel is affecting the Color output in the material.

I tried a few things as a makeshift workaround and found that plugging the layerweight node in the specular of the principled shader provides a bit of a "relief" even if not too perfect. It sort of temporarily "covers" up the blown out bleed through, at least until the bug gets sorted out eventually. Have not tried this on more complex geometry / scenes and I don't know if this will drastically affect specular highlights in general,, but I suppose Eevee is not really for super-realistic renders so may be able to get away with this for now.
