I'm having the same problem. The box selection only works when "all origins" option is turned on in viewport overlays. The box selection only seems to be selecting the origin and not the geometry.

No, Turning off the openGL Depth Picking doesn't work. I tested it with both intel UHD 630 and nvidia gtx 1060 graphics. With Nvidia gtx1060 the box selection does work as it should, but the circle and lasso doesn't work properly.

William Reynish, I did reported this as well. You didn't get this bug because you are testing blender box selection with nvidia graphics, please unlpug the nvidia and test it with intel UHD 630 graphics. In intel UHD 630 graphics, box, lasso, circle select doesn't work. Even load factory settings in of no help. So please take a look at it, with a computer or a laptop with intel graphics not with nvidia graphics.

I realised that I was running blender in intelUHD graphics 630. When I tested the box selection with nvidia graphics gtx1060 it worked perfectly fine. The problem was with intel graphics. Sorry for the inconvenience. I hope to see this bug fixed soon :)
