To make the current boolean operator work in a script or addon, you have to randomize/tweak the size or rotation of the 'cutter' mesh.

I've attached the video that shows the problem. Two planes were cut as expected, whereas other two merged with their target object (wall_slicer).

It has nothing to do with the Python API. You get the same bad results when you try it in the UI.
AFAICT the solver in blender8 only gives much worse results here than in blender7:

Please try this:

  • enable contact shadows in the shadows tab of the light properties panel
  • change the shadows method from ESM to VSM in the shadows tab of the render properties panel

This method will reduce the ghosting of the walls.
Also enable High Bitdepth and Soft Shadows to remove the ghosting even further

These ssteps helped me to reduce ghosting indeed, although I had to disable Soft Shadows because of unwanted blurry effect.

It seems that missing textures break the import. When I remove all Kd lines, the importer works fine. In 2.79b it wasn't a road-block.
