I am picturing a flow like this, which doesn't actually require a dedicated search tab, just a temporary search state:
@William Reynish (billreynish) Since you say we only show results from one tab at a time, presumably we have to highlight the active tab somehow. How would you display the active tab (highlighted) if it contains no results (greyed out)? It would be confusing to highlight the active tab when it doesn't contain results, but if it's not highlighted then it will be unclear which tab the user is searching through.

Using git bisect I narrowed down the problem commit to hash c476c36e400883d929a7149def8dcb6ad6157a86 which unfortunately is quite large.

Newbie here, taking this as a first exercise in familiarizing myself with the codebase. After poking around files throughout day I finally got a fix, I will make a diff in a bit.
