Peter Kemp (peterejkemp) added a comment to T56853: 2.8 crash on F12 then Shift-z .

Just trying to show that T56853 isn't about memory size, the above steps are with the default cube and produce this:

If it helps, this is the output for the spaceship:

It might be the scene size as the race_spaceship works and it's a smaller file. However, we're also getting a crash on rendering the default cube. I'll pull --debug-gpu on https://developer.blender.org/T56853

System info attached. Struggling to get OpenGL version of the driver on this HD2500 GPU as I don't have the ability to install things on these machines.. Unless it's this:

According to wikipedia the HD Graphics 2500 is OpenGL 4.0. Not sure if our drivers are up to date though, I'll try and get a look at the diagnostic tool for the OpenGL version.

I feared that, but at the same time, it _does_ work, just not for super complicated things (what things exactly, I'm trying to find out), and only if you do things in a certain order, as shown above. A few weeks ago nothing was rendering with these chipsets at all

It's evee as default. It seems that it might be specific to the older intel CPU/GPU. A newer CPU/GPU doesn't give me this issue

@Campbell Barton (campbellbarton) my issue is with students transferring from 101 to the full program interface (my experience is mainly with 11-18 year olds). If the step between 101 and full involves moving buttons around and others suddenly appearing out of nowhere I fear that they will feel that they are learnign two interfaces. 'Disabling' rather than hiding buttons could give the developer the option to make a consistent interface across both modes, and make the transition easier

I see mention here of hiding items which seems very sensible. However, for someone looking to learn a new tools having to move from one interface to another can be quite difficult. Will there be the option to disable buttons?
