Description

This project is to help with the volume of reports in BF Blender that developers cant redo.

Reports which developers cant redo are moved here:

  • at least 2 other people need to check the report.
  • If after 2 weeks nobody can redo the issue, the report is closed.

Note: This is NOT for incomplete reports, if the report has sufficient information to redo the bug, but still cant be redone, then it belongs here.

The issue reported can't be reproduced so far, and has been moved to the //BF Blender: Unconfirmed// project.
If 2 other people aren't able to redo the bug after 2 weeks, it will be closed.

We appreciate the effort that goes into making bug reports, but to be able to fix bugs we have to be able to redo them.
If there is anything you can provide to help others to reproduce the problem, be sure to include it.

There is a new driver version from yesterday 04/05/17.
I have just installed it and everything looks normal fine by now, again Windows 10 x64.

Just tested Blender 2.78c on latest Windows 10 (64-bit) and Geforce GTX 1050.

can confirm the crashes on startup with NVIDIA 381.65 on GTX970 and Win10 64bit Creators update. Update to NVIDIA 381.89 fixed the issue.

FYI @Gal (Gal) and @Christian Moravec (BeautyOfTechnology) I just ordered some NVIDIA cards so will be able to debug (and hopefully fix) this in a few days.

I can confirm Blender 2.78c crashing on startup with NVIDIA driver 381.65 on a GeForce GTX770 and WIN10 64-bit system. I had to update my NVIDIA driver to the latest version after WIN10 creators update, otherwise I could not run Windows anymore.

I unified the view panning code now so it behaves the same with scrolling and dragging the middle mouse button (and the trackpad). If there's other inconsistencies we'll need to know the specific operation done.

The "View offset is locked" message is shown for two operations:

  • View Pan with shift/control + scroll
  • View Dolly with shift + control + middle mouse drag

Then, the bug is with the mouse handling. not the trackpad one. Once again, you cannot compare that behavior with 2.49, nowadays you are allowed to pan (move) the view even when locked to an object (it is slightly different from regular view panning though, since center, pivot point of the view remains on the locked object).

I cannot reproduce the crash either here (linux64, latest master), neither in release build nor in debug + asan build. There’s a lot of visual artifacts at some scale levels though…

Hi Bastien,
What draws my attention is that on the same Windows installation, the Blender versions <= 2.61 are able to export the render file in a way also visible in windows explorer, while the versions >= 2.62 cannot. Even though it may be a problem on the Windows side, the fact that one Blender version's export is visible and the next version's export is not suggests that there is a change in file handling between these two versions that triggers the odd behavior..?
As to your side question: Yes, we can successfully save an image from Image Editor, also in the versions where we experience the problem with the render output file.

That’s a very odd issue, but imho if it was a blender one much, much more users would be complaining, so this must be something wrong with your Windows installation somehow (also the fact that repairing it fixes the problem points in that direction)… Anyway, we need a way to reproduce the issue, otherwise we cannot do anything about it.

I’m sorry, but we cannot investigate an issue we cannot reproduce, so will archive this report until someone can give enough elements to consistently reproduce it. Thanks for the report anyway.

I'm working a lot with really highres images and it's a very annoying bug for me...

as far as i can tell when it happens it seems like a camera issue because it doesn't want to let me move my view, i've checked camera setting, ive checked user preferences and non of that ever changes i think its just a random issue with the view, it usually wears off after awhile to let me back in, originally it worked again after i uninstalled blender but the most recent one just decide to start working again
