System Information
Operating system: MacOS 10.13.6
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB

Blender Version
Broken: (example: 2.80, edbf15d3c0, master, 2018-11-28, as found on the splash screen)
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
Trying to delete the RigidBody from an object. But if I do, the whole object gets deleted.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

To reproduce,

  • Select Remove Rigid Body World from the Scene tab
  • Then add it again
  • Set the Collection to "Collection" instead of "RigidBodyWorld"
  • The bug then appears when you now remove the RigidBodies on the objects.
  • Press the little X on RigidBody button in the object's physics panel
  • The whole object disappears

Cannot reproduce here (added ridigid body, deleted again, object is still there...)

  • Do you have a file demonstrating the issue?
  • Have you tried this in a fresh build from builder.blender.org?

Did you press the X?

Pressing on the main button area removes the RigidBody.
Pressing on the X next to the word RigidBody, removes the whole object.

Yes, clicked the X...

weird...

  • Is the object removed from the outliner as well?
  • Does this happen with Factory defaults?

Ahh, now I see (updated report description)... bit of an esoteric case... maybe @mont29 knows what's going on?

That’s expected behavior, removing RB from an object means removing that object from RB collection… If you are using the only collection in which said object is as RB one, then your object is removed from scene, yes.

This is a problem, when the RigidBodyWorld becomes corrupted and the only way to get the physics running again is to set the RigidBody Collection to that collection. Which is how it came up to begin with.
See https://developer.blender.org/T64877.

If that collection is a special collection with this special behaviour - Perhaps this should be shown in the outliner.

Or at least update the documentation to reflect this hidden behaviour.
